Amy Beedle (PI)

I graduated in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Leeds, and obtained an MRes in Molecular Biophysics from King’s College London. I completed my PhD in Biophysics at King’s College London with Sergi Garcia-Manyes investigating how mechanical force alters the chemical reactivity of individual proteins. I subsequently moved to Barcelona to the Pere Roca-Cusachs lab with a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellowship working on the molecular mechanisms of cellular mechanotransduction, with a particular focus on the remodelling of the extracellular matrix. Since 2023, I am a Lecturer in Biological Physics in the department of Physics at KCL.

Rebecca Wurr (PhD student)

In 2023, I obtained an integrated Master’s in Natural Sciences from the University of Leeds. My master’s project utilised small angle neutron scattering (SANS) to elucidate the concurrent effects of cross-linking rate and protein unfolding on the structure of globular protein hydrogels. In my PhD research, I use micro-patterning, fluorescence microscopy, and image analysis techniques to study the pathways through which extracellular cues are transduced into intracellular signals.
